전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
갤러리현대는 김명희(1949년생) 작가의 개인전 《깊은 시간 Deep Time》을 5월 7일부터 6월 14일까지 개최한다. 이번 전시는 2003년과 2012년에 이어 3번째로 갤러리현대와 작가가 함께하는 개인전으로, 반세기 넘게 이어온 작가의 독보적인 회화 세계를 조명하는 회고전이다. 한국 현대미술사에서 여성 미술가의 입지를 공고히 다져온 김명희의 예술적 여정을 총망라하는 동시에 삶과 역사가 교차하는 작가의 ‘깊은 시간’을 다층적으로 살펴볼 수 있는 자리이다. 전시에는 1970년대 캔버스의 유화 작업, 1980년대 목탄드로잉, 1990년부터 시작된 칠판화의 대표작 및 신작 등 총 50여 점이 공개된다.

Gallery Hyundai presents Deep Time, a solo exhibition by Myong-Hi Kim (b. 1949), on view from May 7 to June 14. The retrospective marks Kim’s third solo exhibition with Gallery Hyundai, following presentations in 2003 and 2012, and highlights her unique painterly practice spanning more than five decades. The exhibition traces her artistic journey and her role in shaping the position of women artists in Korean contemporary art, while unfolding a multilayered exploration of her "deep time," where life and history intersect. The exhibition features approximately 50 works, including oil paintings on canvas from the 1970s, charcoal drawings from the 1980s, and major and recent works from her chalkboard painting series, which began in the 1990s.
