전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
나의 작업은 일상의 장면을 관찰하거나 꿈속에서 떠오르는 희미한 이미지를 출발점으로 한다. 이러한 이미지들은 간단한 스케치의 형태로 기록되고 이후 회화의 시작점이 된다. 작업 과정에서 선과 형태를 점차 덜어내며 이미지가 지닌 구조와 리듬을 찾아간다. 형태들은 즉흥적인 선택과 반복 속에서 점차 변형되고, 그 과정에서 처음의 장면으로부터 멀어지며 다른 이미지가 만들어지기도 한다. 평면 위에서 형태들이 어떻게 관계를 맺고 공간을 만들어가는지에 지속적인 관심을 두고 있다.
도시에서 마주치는 풍경과 구조물은 작업에 반복해서 등장하는 모티브다. 기차역이나 통로, 대기실, 대중교통처럼 일상에서 접하는 공간과 장면들을 자주 관찰한다. 특히 오래 머무르기보다 스쳐 지나가는 공간과, 익명의 사람들이 잠시 같은 장소를 공유하는 상황에 관심을 가진다. 이러한 공간에서 발견한 구조와 사물, 인물의 일부는 서로 분리되거나 다른 형태로 변형되어 다시 등장한다.
이러한 모티브들은 화면 안에서 서로 관계를 맺으며 하나의 이미지를 이룬다. 각각의 요소는 형태와 공간으로 존재하며, 그 사이에는 거리감과 긴장감이 남는다.

My work begins with observing scenes from everyday life or with faint images that surface in dreams. I record these images as simple sketches, which later become starting points for paintings. In the process, I gradually strip away lines and forms to discover the structure and rhythm held within an image. Through spontaneous choices and repetition, forms gradually transform; in doing so, they sometimes move away from the original scene and generate a different image. I remain interested in how forms relate to one another and construct space on a flat surface.
Landscapes and structures encountered in the city recur as motifs in my work. I often observe everyday spaces and scenes such as train stations, passageways, waiting rooms, and public transportation. I am particularly drawn to spaces people pass through rather than inhabit, and to situations in which anonymous individuals briefly share the same place. Structures, objects, and fragments of people found in these spaces are separated from one another or transformed before reappearing.
These motifs form a single image through their relationships within the picture plane. Each element exists as form and space, while distance and tension remain between them.
