“나는 완결된 형상보다 이미지가 지워지고 덮이는 ‘사이의 상태’에 매료된다. 화이트 물감으로 덮인 화면은 그 자체로 치열한 결정들의 합이자, 회화적 자유를 획득하는 순간이다.”
리안갤러리 대구는 2026년 상반기 첫 전시로 현대 회화의 독자적인 문법을 구축해 온 에디 마르티네즈(Eddie Martinez)의 개인전을 개최합니다.
이번 전시는 작가의 작업 세계를 관통하는 핵심 연작인 ‘White-Out’시리즈를 중심으로 구성되어, 회화와 드로잉의 경계를 넘나들며 축적된 그의 예술적 여정을 집중적으로 조명합니다. 드로잉의 즉각성과 회화적 물성을 결합한 작가 특유의 언어는, ‘그리기와 지우기’라는 행위의 본질에 대한 심도 있는 탐구를 제안합니다.

LEEAHN Gallery Daegu is proud to present a solo exhibition by Eddie Martinez, an artist who has established a unique vernacular in contemporary painting, as its first exhibition of the first half of 2026.
This exhibition centers on the ‘White-Out’ series, a core body of work that traverses the artist’s creative universe, providing an in-depth look at his artistic journey that blurs the boundaries between painting and drawing. The artist’s signature language, which fuses the immediacy of drawing with the materiality of painting, offers a profound exploration into the fundamental essence of the acts of ‘drawing and erasing.’
