섹션 III: 칵테일

댄스홀에서 춤이 끝난 뒤에도 남는 것은 음악만이 아니다. 한껏 달아오른 몸의 열기, 어지러운 조명의 잔상, 타인의 움직임에 잠시 휩쓸렸던 감각이 뒤섞여 남는다. 그것은 달콤하지만 조금은 씁쓸하고, 즐거웠지만 어쩐지 피로한 감각이다. 칵테일은 바로 그런 뒤섞임의 형식이다.
칵테일은 하나의 맛으로 쉽게 정리되지 않는다. 단맛과 쓴맛, 향과 알코올, 얼음이 녹으며 흐려지는 농도가 한 잔 안에서 서로를 밀어내고 붙잡는다. 삶 역시 그렇다. 우리는 각자의 고독과 사정을 지닌 채 같은 공간에 머물고, 잠시 같은 공기와 리듬을 나눈다. 완전히 이해하지 못하면서도 서로의 곁을 지나고, 부딪히고, 때로는 함께 흔들린다.
따라서 공존은 언제나 완전한 합일이라기보다 불완전한 혼합에 가깝다. 서로 다른 감각들이 하나의 잔 안에 담기듯, 우리는 분리된 채로도 잠시 같은 장면을 만든다. 그것은 오래 지속되지 않기에 오히려 선명하고, 완벽하지 않기에 더욱 인간적인 순간이다.
전시 소개:
하나의 방향으로 흐르지 않는 시간 속에서 우리의 삶은 자주 어긋나고, 얽히며, 분명한 목적지를 잃는다. 어디로 향하고 있는지 알 수 없는 순간에도 몸은 쉽게 멈추지 않는다. 이유를 묻는다면 명확히 답할 수 없지만, 우리는 다음을 향해 다시 발을 옮긴다. 그것은 어떠한 의지라기보다, 그저 존재하기 위해 지속되는 움직임에 가깝다.
삶은 주기적으로 우리를 흔들고, 때로는 예고 없이 무너뜨린다. 그러나 우리는 마치 그 순간을 이미 알고 있었다는 듯, 다시 균형을 잡고 다음의 스텝을 밟아낸다. 본 전시는 이러한 뻔뻔하고도 유쾌한 태도, 무너짐 이후에도 계속되는 인간의 몸짓을 사유하기 위해 ‘춤’을 호출한다. 여기서 춤은 완성된 무용이나 아름다움에 대한 것이 아니다. 목적 없이도 움직여내는 멈추지 않는 존재 방식이다.
본 전시는 인간의 몸짓을 춤으로, 삶의 장면들을 하나의 댄스홀로 바라본다. 섬광, 구두, 칵테일이라는 세 개의 소주제는 각각 흔들리는 감각, 지속되는 걸음, 타인과 뒤섞이는 순간을 가리킨다. 이 장면들은 사라질 것을 알면서도 끝내 움직일 수밖에 없는 존재들의 리듬을 전시장 안에 펼쳐 보인다. 우리는 왜 계속 움직이는가. 어쩌면 답은 목적이 아니라, 멈추지 못하는 몸 그 자체에 있을지도 모른다.
기획 그룹 소개:
FLUX 614는 홍익대학교 예술학과 4학년 교과목 <전시기획 및 실습>을 기반으로 결성된 신진 기획자 콜렉티브입니다. 해당 교과목은 정연심 교수님의 지도 아래 매년 기획전을 개최해오고 있습니다. 그룹명 ‘FLUX 614’는 고정되지 않고 변화하는 흐름을 뜻하는 ‘flux’와, 기획의 출발점이 된 홍익대학교 강의실 R614호를 결합한 이름입니다.

Section III: Cocktail

Exhibition Statement
In time that flows in no single direction, our lives frequently slip out of alignment, become entangled, and lose any clear destination. Even in moments when we cannot tell where we are headed, the body does not easily stop. If asked why, we cannot answer clearly — yet we lift our feet and move toward what comes next. It is less a matter of will than a movement that simply continues, in order to exist.
Life shakes us periodically, and sometimes brings us down without warning. Yet we return to balance as if we already knew the fall was coming, and take the next step. This exhibition calls upon "dance" to contemplate that brazen and playful attitude — the human gesture that persists even after collapse. Here, dance is not about accomplished choreography or beauty. It is a way of being that keeps moving, even without purpose.
The exhibition regards human gestures as dance and the scenes of life as a single dance hall. Three sub-themes — Flash, Shoes, and Cocktail — point respectively to a wavering sensibility, a stride that endures, and the moment of blending with others. These scenes unfold in the gallery the rhythm of beings who, knowing they will disappear, cannot stop moving nonetheless. Why do we keep moving? Perhaps the answer lies not in purpose, but in the body itself — the body that simply cannot stop.
About the Collective
FLUX 614 is a collective of emerging curators formed through a fourth-year course in Art History and Theory at Hongik University. The course has held a curated exhibition each year under the guidance of Professor Yeon Shim Chung. The name "FLUX 614" combines flux — the idea of change without fixity — with R614, the classroom where this curatorial journey began.
