전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

수원시립아트스페이스광교는 《확장팩: 아티스틱 리서치》를 개최합니다. 기존 게임에 스토리, 지역, 캐릭터, 아이템 등 새로운 관점을 더하는 ‘확장팩’처럼, 예술가의 작업 과정에서 이루어지는 탐구와 확장의 방식을 살펴봅니다. 예술가에게 리서치는 작업을 만들어가는 필연적인 과정이기에, 이번 전시는 수집과 조사라는 공통의 방법론에 더해 연구 과정에서 발생하는 매체 전환에 주목합니다.
전시를 구성하는 세 개의 파트는 데이터, 기록, 역사를 재맥락화하는 관점을 담고 있습니다. 여섯 명의 작가는 미세 입자, 신체 움직임, 문헌 기록, 실용신안등록문서, 건축양식, 해양생물을 조사하고 탐구하며 기록과 자료의 예술적 변용을 제시합니다.

Like an expansion pack that adds new perspectives—such as storylines, regions, characters, and items—to an existing game, this exhibition explores how research and inquiry expand an artist’s creative process. It focuses on changes of medium that arise through research, alongside the shared methods of collecting and investigation.
Across three sections that recontextualize data, records, and history, six artists investigate fine particles, bodily movement, archival documents, utility model registrations, architectural forms, and marine life, presenting artistic transformations of research and source material.
