전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
상히읗은 오는 7월 3일부터 8월 1일까지 BBK(장종완 × 장준호)와 유예림의 신작을 소개하는 《Fool's Spring》을 개최한다.
BBK는 한국 사회가 만들어낸 유토피아적 상상력과 '발명된 전통', 그리고 이상향을 향한 인간의 욕망을 탐구하며 집단적 믿음의 구조를 다뤄왔다. 회화를 중심으로 작업하는 장종완과 나무 조각을 기반으로 작업하는 장준호는 서로의 작업을 하나의 출발점으로 삼는 순환적인 협업 방식을 통해 회화와 조각의 경계를 확장해왔다. 한편, 유예림은 특정한 이야기를 설명하기보다 이야기가 발생할 수 있는 장면을 구축해왔다. 이번 전시에서는 식물과 동물이 놓인 익명의 실내를 중심으로 한 신작을 선보이며, 현실과 허구, 자연과 인공 사이를 유영하는 풍경 속에서 회화의 물질성과 시간이 만들어내는 감각을 탐구한다.
생태학에서 Fool's Spring은 계절을 앞질러 찾아온 온기로 인해 식물들이 너무 일찍 싹을 틔우는 현상을 뜻한다. 아직 계절은 완전히 바뀌지 않았지만 생명은 먼저 움직이기 시작한다. 이번 전시는 실패한 미래와 폐기된 약속 이후에도 인간이 끊임없이 또 다른 세계를 상상하고 믿음을 만들어가는 방식을 두 작가의 서로 다른 작업을 통해 살펴본다. 처음에는 하나의 세계가 먼저 보이지만, 시선은 곧 그 세계를 가능하게 한 구조와 시간으로 향한다. 서로 다른 방식으로 축적된 두 작업은 같은 공간 안에서 비로소 하나의 풍경을 이룬다.

sangheeut is pleased to present Fool's Spring, an exhibition of new works by BBK (Jongwan Jang × Junho Jang) and Yaerim Ryu, on view from 3 July to 1 August 2026.
BBK has explored the structures of collective belief through utopian imagination, "invented traditions," and the ways human desire is projected onto nature within Korean society. Working respectively in painting and wood sculpture, Jongwan Jang and Junho Jang have developed a reciprocal mode of collaboration in which each work becomes the point of departure for the next, expanding the relationship between painting and sculpture. By contrast, Yaerim Ryu constructs scenes in which narratives remain open rather than fixed. For this exhibition, she presents a new body of work centred on anonymous interiors inhabited by plants and animals, exploring the materiality of painting and the sense of duration embedded within landscapes that move between reality and fiction, nature and the artificial.
In ecology, Fool's Spring refers to an early spell of warm weather that causes plants to bud before winter has fully passed. Life begins to move before the season has truly changed. Likewise, the exhibition considers how, even after failed futures and abandoned promises, we continue to imagine new worlds and construct new beliefs. At first, what emerges is a world of its own. Gradually, however, attention shifts toward the structures and temporalities that make that world possible. Bringing together two distinct practices, Fool's Spring unfolds as a shared landscape shaped by different modes of accumulation.
