전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

관람료: 15,000원 (성인) 세화미술관은 게오르그 바젤리츠(Georg Baselitz, 1938~2026)의 60여 년에 걸친 예술적 궤적을 아우르는 회고전을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 작가 타계 후 국내에서 열리는 첫 전시로, 바젤리츠의 고유한 조형 언어를 다각도로 재조명하고 그의 예술적 유산을 소개하기 위해 기획되었다. 본 전시는 1960년대부터 80년대까지 작가의 작품 세계에 반복적으로 등장하는 핵심 도상들을 다룬 초기작으로 시작해, 노년의 작가가 화폭에 담아낸 영원한 동반자 엘케(Elke)의 초상, 2000년대 이후 과거의 모티프를 자기 참조적으로 재해석한 ‘리믹스(Remix)’ 연작으로 이어진다. 더불어 그의 작업 전반을 관통하는 파편화된 신체와 독수리 도상을 살펴본다. 전시의 마지막 공간에는 작가가 말년에 몰두했던 ‘골드 페인팅(Gold Paintings)’ 연작을 선보인다. 세화미술관은 역사적 트라우마를 예술로 승화시키고, 평생에 걸쳐 회화의 본질을 치열하게 탐구한 게오르그 바젤리츠의 예술 여정을 조망한다. 전시를 통해 거장의 붓끝에서 탄생한 강렬한 에너지를 마주하고, 거꾸로 선 형상 너머에 담긴 삶과 예술에 대한 성찰을 함께 나누기를 기대한다.

Admission: 15,000 KRW (Adult) The Sehwa Museum of Art presents a retrospective encompassing the 60-year artistic trajectory of Georg Baselitz (1938–2026). As the first exhibition held in Korea since the artist’s passing, it is designed to shed new light on Baselitz’s unique formative language from various angles and to introduce his artistic legacy. The exhibition begins with his early works, featuring key icons that repeatedly appeared in his oeuvre from the 1960s to the 1980s. It then progresses to the portraits of his eternal companion Elke, which he painted in his later years, and the Remix series from the 2000s onwards, where he self-referentially reinterpreted his past motifs. Furthermore, it explores the fragmented bodies and the eagle motifs that run through his entire body of work. In the final space of the exhibition, the Gold Painting series, to which the artist devoted himself in his final years, is presented. The Sehwa Museum of Art illuminates the artistic journey of Georg Baselitz, who sublimated historical trauma into art and fiercely explored the essence of painting throughout his life. Through this exhibition, we hope audiences will encounter the intense energy born from the master’s brushstrokes and share in the introspection on life and art embedded beyond his signature upside-down figures.
