전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
《홀홀홀 HoleHoleHole》은 구멍을 드러낸다. 구멍의 정체는 무엇인가? 그것은 갇히게 하는 대신 지나가게 하는 통로, 삼킨 것을 도로 뱉는 입구이자 출구이며, 안팎을 상호 오염시키는 계기이자 결과다. 염지혜는 이 같은 구멍의 논리에 기대어 세계 질서에서 탈구된 것들을 점점이 잇고 새로운 망을 가설한다. 우주와 지구, 내장과 껍질, 문명과 불안, 그리고 삶과 죽음이 연결되고 다시 분절된다. 그간 영상을 주로 다뤄오던 작가는 과거의 작업들과 신작 회화, 조각, 시, AI 생성 이미지를 병치하며 이러한 연결/분절을 물리적으로도 구현한다. 기존의 특정한 중심성은 힘을 잃고, ‘구멍’은 계속해서 텅 빈 안쪽을 게워 낸다.

HoleHoleHole reveals the hole. What is a hole? It is a passage that lets things through rather than confining them; an entrance and exit that spits back what it has swallowed; both the occasion and the consequence of a mutual contamination between inside and outside. Leaning on this logic of the hole, Ji Hye Yeom stitches together, point by point, the things dislocated from the world's order, and provisionally weaves a new web. Cosmos and Earth, viscera and shell, civilization and anxiety, life and death are connected and then articulated apart again. The artist, who has primarily worked in video, physically enacts this connection/disjunction as well, juxtaposing her past works with new paintings, sculptures, poems, and AI-generated images. Established centralities lose their grip, and the "hole" keeps retching up its own hollow interior.
