전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
학고재는 2026년 8월 12일(수)부터 9월 12일(토)까지 강요배(b. 1952)의 개인전 《소소, 반색》을 연다. 학고재에서 4년 만에 선보이는 이번 전시는 일상에서 스쳐 지나가기 쉬운 작고 미미한 존재들을 반갑게 맞이하는 태도에서 출발한다. 자연의 미세한 맥박과 생명의 숨결을 추적해 온 작가의 깊은 시선이 머무는 전시다.
강요배는 1980년대 민중미술의 중심에서 한국 현대사의 굴곡과 불합리한 사회적 현실을 화폭에 응축해 온 거장이다. 그를 역사를 기록하는 작가로 보지만, 작업 세계를 지탱하는 또 다른 축은 자연에 대한 깊은 관찰과 경외심이다. 이번 전시는 그 장엄한 시선을 내면으로 옮겨서, 사소하고 내밀한 풍경으로 관객을 인도한다.

Hakgojae Gallery presents Little Things, Delightful Greetings, a solo exhibition by KANG Yo Bae (b. 1952), from August 12 to September 12, 2026. Marking the artist's first solo exhibition at Hakgojae in four years, the exhibition begins with an attitude of warmly welcoming the small and seemingly insignificant beings that are easily overlooked in everyday life. It brings together works informed by the artist's profound gaze, which has long traced the subtle pulse of nature and the breath of living things.
Kang Yo Bae is a leading figure in Korean contemporary art who, since the height of the Minjung Art movement in the 1980s, has condensed the turbulence of modern Korean history and the contradictions of social reality onto the canvas. Although he is often regarded as an artist who records history, another central axis of his practice lies in his deep observation of and reverence for nature. In this exhibition, his expansive gaze turns inward, guiding viewers toward landscapes that are modest, intimate, and quietly resonant.
