전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
갤러리 SP는 크리스 로의 개인전, 《한때의 지금》을 8월 20일부터 9월 30일까지 개최합니다. 크리스 로는 공기, 온도, 소리와 같이 장소를 이루지만 기록으로 남겨지지 않은 '무명의 특성'을 주목해 왔습니다. 정보로 환원될 수 없는 기류를 그래픽으로 번역해 온 그의 작업은 1997년에 준공된 한 주택의 시간과 조우합니다. 건물은 여러 입주자들이 거쳐가며 다양한 이야기를 품어왔으나 역사로 기록되지 않은 장소였습니다. 이번 전시는 하나의 공간에 중첩된 서로 다른 시간과 장소의 층위를 호출하며, 실재하는 건물의 역사와 작가의 상상이 교차하는 지점을 탐색합니다. 관람객은 전시 공간을 따라 이동하며 기록되지 않은 장소의 기억과 보이지 않는 시간의 결을 새로운 감각으로 마주하게 될 것입니다.
Gallery SP presents Chris Ro’s solo exhibition Once Upon Now, on view from August 20 through September 30.
Chris Ro has long been attentive to the “unnamed qualities” that constitute a place—air, temperature, sound, and other elements that often elude documentation. Translating these intangible currents, which cannot be reduced to information, into graphic forms, his practice encounters the temporal traces of a house completed in 1997. Having passed through the hands of various occupants and accumulated countless stories, the building remains a place whose history has never been formally recorded.
Once Upon Now calls forth the overlapping layers of time and place embedded within a single space, exploring the point where the actual history of the building intersects with the artist’s imagination. Moving through the exhibition space, visitors are invited to encounter, through new sensory experiences, the memories of an undocumented place and the textures of time that remain unseen.
