전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
타데우스 로팍 서울은 지난 4월 작고한 현대미술계의 거장 게오르그 바젤리츠(Georg Baselitz)의 생애 후반기 10년을 집약적으로 조명하는 개인전 ⟪손끝에서 (Per Mano)⟫를 개최한다. 생전 작가와 긴밀히 협업하여 구상한 본 전시에서는 작가의 작업 세계를 대표하는 모노타이프 회화 연작 ⟨그림자(Schatten)⟩(2020)와 ⟨어둠과 황금빛(Darkness Goldness)⟩(2019)이 국내 최초로 공개된다. 특히 ⟨그림자⟩ 연작은 이스탄불 사킵 사반치 미술관(Sakıp Sabancı Museum, Istanbul, 2024년)과 빌바오 미술관(Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, 2025년) 전시 이후 최초로 선보이는 자리다. 두 연작 모두 큐레이터 오쿠이 엔위저(Okwui Enwezor)가 기획한 2015년 제56회 베니스 비엔날레에서 선보였던 기념비적인 ⟨아비뇽(Avignon)⟩ 연작을 기점으로, 인간의 유한한 삶에 대해 지속적으로 탐구했던 작가의 궤적을 보여준다.
Thaddaeus Ropac Seoul presents Per Mano, an exhibition conceived in close collaboration with Georg Baselitz before his passing in April 2026. The show pays homage to the late artist’s prodigious oeuvre through two series of monotype paintings that epitomise the final decade of his practice: the Schatten (2020) and the Darkness Goldness works (2019), never before seen in Korea. It also marks the first time Georg Baselitz’s Schatten will be showcased since his exhibitions at the Sakıp Sabancı Museum, Istanbul (2024) and the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao (2025). Both series reveal the artist’s sustained, eminently sensitive engagement with mortality since the seminal Avignon cycle he presented at the 56th Venice Biennale curated by Okwui Enwezor in 2015.
