전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
공간 이스트×이스트의 첫 번째 소장전으로, 김형석 작가(b.1969)의 회화 작품들을 선보인다. 작가는 우리가 경험하는 세계의 단면 너머를 바라보고자 하는 형이상학적 갈망을 회화로 풀어내며, 현실의 장면과 장면 사이의 틈에서 문득 비치는 세계의 무한한 얼굴을 환상적으로 재구성해왔다. 그에게 중요한 것은 소재나 그것이 지시하는 표상 자체가 아니라, 이를 통해 세계의 심연과 깊이를 느끼고 보이지 않게 연결된 세계를 타인과 나누는 것이다. 이번 전시에서는 몇 점의 회화를 통해 김형석이 그려온 세계의 한 단면을 소개한다.
The first exhibition from the space EAST×EAST collection presents a selection of paintings by HyungSeok Kim (b.1969). Through painting, Kim explores a metaphysical longing to look beyond the fragments of the world we experience, fantastically reconstructing the infinite faces of the world that emerge unexpectedly in the gaps between scenes of reality. What matters in his work is not the subject matter itself or what it represents, but the possibility of sensing through it the depth and abyss of the world, and of sharing with others a world that remains invisibly interconnected. Through a selection of paintings, this exhibition offers a glimpse into one facet of the world Kim has continued to depict.
