전시 소개 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
리앤배는 대만을 기반으로 활동하는 뉴미디어 아트 예술가 그룹 ‘WHYIXD(와이아이엑스디)’의 《풍경의 해상도: The Resolution of Landscape》를 개최한다. WHYIXD는 해상도(resolution)를 단순히 이미지의 선명도를 의미하는 기술적 개념에서 확장하여, 인간이 환경을 인식하고 해석하는 방식에 대한 문제로 재정의한다. 이들은 자연과 도시를 구성하는 바다, 바람, 전압, 미세한 환경 신호 등 비가시적 요소를 수집하고, 이를 알고리즘과 프로그래밍을 통해 빛과 움직임의 조형 언어로 변환한다. WHYIXD의 작업은 20세기 후반 키네틱 아트와 미디어 아트의 계보를 잇는 동시에, 데이터 기반 환경 인식을 결합한 동시대적 확장으로 읽힌다. 특히 자연을 재현의 대상이 아닌 ‘데이터화된 감각 구조’로 전환한다는 점에서, 디지털 시대의 새로운 풍경 개념을 제시한다.

LEE & BAE presents The Resolution of Landscape by the Taiwan-based new media art group WHYIXD.
WHYIXD expands the idea of “resolution” beyond image clarity, using it to explore how we perceive and understand our environment. The group collects invisible elements such as the sea, wind, electrical signals, and subtle environmental data, and transforms them into visual forms of light and movement through algorithms and programming.
Rather than simply representing nature, their work reinterprets it as a “data-driven sensory structure,” offering a new way of understanding landscape in the digital age.
